South Tampa’s bay light is particular — low, silver, and long in the evening. The house is built of dark brick so that the water, not the façade, carries the brightness.

A garden of native planting runs to the seawall. Inside, bronze and oak take the place of ornament. The stair is a single piece of joinery; the rest of the house is arranged around it.
